Shadow Box Creations

We are starting a new enterprise: Shadow Box Creations! We have taken photographs of our first shadow box. We have entitled it "Bathing Beauties" and have tried to recreate the feel of a day on the boardwalk just after the trophies have been awarded to the Bathing Beauty Queens! These women were actual winners of a New Jersey shore early 1900's Beauty Pageant! We have included an antique flag, vintage sea shells, old sheet music, vintage embroidery floss and the most delicate antique sea moss. We used old anagram game tiles to name the piece. Wouldn't you have loved to live in a time when beauty was defined by lovely hair and a pretty smile and not by whoever was the thinnest! So let's raise a glass to when a parasol, a pretty hat and hoisery were de rigeur to win the pageant!

Hats Off to Robins in the Trundle Bed

We have a fondness for hats of all kinds! From Victorian bonnets to French berets to straw boaters, we can't seem to pass by a hat for sale without bringing it home! We have some darling vintage hats and antique doll hats for sale on eBay, so be sure to check them out!! We have displayed some of the hats on Mademoiselle Mathilde, a fabulous find from Paris. She is oh-so-chic and we are so delighted that she is such a charming model for our chapeaus!

A Long Ago Windy Day

A long ago windy day that makes you dream of spring. We love a photo where you can actually see the wind.
This is our mother with us as children. If we still had her dress, we would definitely wear it!!! Note the classic 1960's woman, wearing high heeled shoes to the park!
Remember, these were the days when our mother told us that you dressed to go downtown.

For those of you already in the mood for Valentine's Day, we are offering these red glass hearts, each tied with a tag that reads "Be Mine" nestled on a bed of straw on an antique English platter.


This beautiful Valentine dates to the Victorian era. It is a delightful confection of lace, butterfly scraps and cupids! You can find it for purchase on Ebay!


This charming Glengarry velvet hat featured on an antique French mannequin head was a fortuitous find this summer.


This antique Victorian cape is also available in our current Ebay auction listings. It would be a beautiful accessory on any of your winter adventures. Can you imagine wearing this to skate on Frog Pond?


We adore this box with all of its family treasures contained within. Although there are only a few scraps of paper affixed inside the glove box, they tell a marvelous New England Civil War era story. We were even able to research and discover a daguerreotype of the owner of the box.


It will be difficult to part with this delightful collection of vintage topsy turvy, sock and rag dolls. Wouldn't you like to join them as they go on a gay sledding adventure on a snowy New England hillside?

In Tribute to our Beloved Father

Our amazing, wonderful, giving, loving father died on Saturday, October 31. We are filled with grief at his passing, but know he is in a better place. We can't imagine life without him.
