Should Auld Acquintance Be Forgot...

"Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold."

Wishing all our customers, family and friends a joyous, blessed Christmas!

Love came down at Christmas;

Autumn in New England is Around the Corner....

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
George Eliot

We have been searching around New England to find lovely fall items for our shop. The summer seashells are being packed away to make way for the bittersweet, gourds and pumpkins and fall toned linens and accessories for your home.

Summertime Beauty

“Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you”

Storytime

Recently, we performed an original story written by Sherrill in the sunken garden at Narragansett Historical Society in Templeton Massachusetts. The story entitled “Elizabeth’s Quilt or the Wedding Gift” taught lessons about history and the importance of community. It addressed the value of intergenerational learning where elders and children learn important life lessons from each other. As Sheila performed the story, Sherrill involved audience members, curating the story with antiques from their collection and their shop, Robins in the Trundle Bed. Sherrill called children to the stage area where they donned antique hats and clothing, becoming the characters in the story. The audience participated in the story by wearing the antique clothing and accessories, smelling herbs and examining the various antiques that illustrated the story. We took photographs of the event to share with you!

Robins in the Trundle Bed Welcomes You

Trundle Bed Times

Visit us at Country Mischief

We have been refeathering our nest at Robins in the Trundle Bed and wanted to share our shop with you. Spring has arrived and we have wonderful antique linens, vintage bird houses...and bits of whimsy from seashells to nests.

I dreaded that first Robin, so, But He is mastered, now, I'm some accustomed to/ Him grown, He hurts a little, though/I thought if I could only live/ Till that first Shout got by/Not all Pianos in the Woods /Had power to mangle me /I dared not meet the Daffodils /For fear their Yellow Gown /Would pierce me with a fashion /So foreign to my own/I wished the Grass would hurry/ So when 'twas time to see /He'd be too tall, the tallest one /Could stretch to look at me /I could not bear the /Bees should come, I wished they'd stay away /In those dim countries where they go, /What word had they, for me?/They're here, though; not a creature failed /No Blossom stayed away /In gentle deference to me /The Queen of Calvary /Each one salutes me, as he goes, /And I, my childish Plumes, /Lift, in bereaved acknowledgement /Of their unthinking Drums

Emily Dickinson
